Tubal Testing

3D/4D HyCoSy (3D/4D Hystero Contrast Sonography)

A powerful non-invasive tool in diagnosis of the structural defects of the female reproductive system, such as the uterus abnormalities and the blockage of the Fallopian tubes.

This technique of accurate evaluation of the tubal patency can provide an important evidence for clinical targeted treatments although laparoscopy remains the gold standard in this field.

It is conducted by forcing an aqueous fluid up the fallopian tubes to provide a contrast medium for ultrasound assessment.

3D HyCoSy seems to overcome the existing limitations of the 2D technique such as operator’s competency, more time consuming procedure, difficulty in the interpretation of the results, difficulty in observing the entire fallopian tube due to the tortuosity during the inspection, difficulty to distinguish surrounding tissues such as the bowel etc.

The tubal patency test is the second important step in order to investigate your fertility status especially if you have experienced chlamydia infection in the past or you have undergone gynecological procedures.
